About quality translations

Our approach to translation is plain and simple:

Abstain from writing hollow phrases – write meaningful text.

Quality translation is about understanding implicit meaning and transferring that meaning rather than the mere words. And it is about writing the style of the industry. Ideally, the readers will not notice they are reading a translation – a great challenge that requires a certain degree of editing during the translation process. This in turn takes a translator who is knowledgeable in the subject matter.

The fundamentals and process of translation

Our extra service:
We do not take content automatically for granted. Against our background in agricultural topics we are able to spot potential 'defects' in the original text. Such shortcomings are rather common in technical writing – the more so in the era of globalization and simultaneous engineering, where manuals are not always written by native speakers. Spotting such 'deficiencies' and dealing intelligently with them takes experience, expertise and the ambition to deliver a technical translation that is a pleasure to read.

Technical translation

Technical translation follows the same rules as technical writing:

  • It uses spot-on and consistent terminology throughout the entire documentation – even though the terminology in the original text may not be consistent all the time.
  • The formulations are clear and readily understood – even though the original text may be difficult to read.
  • It adds context where this is missing and corrects potential errors.

Creative translation

Do you require a translation of your brochure, web site or promotional video, your press release, ad or claim?

Buntstifte

Then you require a creative translation, which is our indisputable strength.

Creative translation takes place in two stages - translating and copy writing. This in turn may require rewording, rephrasing, omitting, adding, softening, exaggerating or rearranging text. Sentences may be split or re-grouped. Any effort is justified. We continue smoothing and polishing the text until your prestigious brochure manifests a style that is as brilliant as its glossy pictures. These stylish creations are checked with another proofreader before the final touches are applied – so that your brochure not only looks beautiful but reads beautifully, too.

A translator who achieves this level of "translational copy writing" will offer the following qualifications:

  • 1. In-depth knowledge of the product, the reader group and its jargon
  • 2. Superior command of the languages involved
  • 3. Creative writing skills
